Continue along the length of the ridge line. Lay the tarp across the roof so that at least 4 feet 1 2 m lies on the sloped part of your roof on each side known as the peak. Keep this up until you reach the other end of the peak. Screw the 2 by 4 directly into the roof to secure it. Your 2 4 should be two feet longer than the width of your tarp. Install the next shingle approximately 2 3 past the seal strip of the first shingle.

Place the 2 4 against the roof along the rake to prevent water collection. Tear off the old shingles. Starting at a corner drive a galvanized roofing nail into the strip and into the roof sheathing. Partially unroll your tarp to cover the damaged area from the roof s eaves to peak.

This tarp mitigates the water damage while protecting the property. Make sure to tighten the tarp as much as possible to the structure.
